USSA STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Name: Peter Foley
Title: U.S. Snowboarding Head Coach
Number of years with the USSA: 14
Hometown/current town: I’m kind of from Bend, OR. I went to high school in Summit County CO, and now I live in Hood River.
My secret guilty pleasure is: Pabst Blue Ribbon.
The proudest I’ve been of the Team during the past season was when: They took the first five places in the Telluride SBX.
My first snowboarding experience was: 1983 watching the World Cup ski races in Aspen and some guys had early Burton boards. We took turns hitting some
powder drifts on the side of the run.
If I could live anywhere in the world for free, it would be: Hood River.
The thing I miss the most when I’m on the road is: My wife and kids.
The song that always fires me up no matter what is: Welcome to the Jungle, by Guns N’ Roses. It was the song that I blasted for wake-up call in the coaches’
house every morning before we won medals in Torino.
The thing I’m most looking forward to this upcoming season is: Those special days when we get somewhere new and it has snowed a ton and we all go out
and kill it together.
One thing most people don’t know about me is: I think I’m a middle aged, semi-pro kite surfer.
My favorite movie is: Lost in Translation comes to mind right now. We have spent so much time in Japan over the years and it just captures the whole jet lag
Tokyo experience so well.
